My father was a Freeman of Berwick Thomas Warnock Smith son of Alexander Smith I suppose it is rather late now for me to apply for the Freedom (87!) and when I last looked twenty years ago I would not have been able to sign the religious declaration..I am wondering if that is still necessary .... There was an exhibition of my father's life in 1994 in the Museum...A Freeman in Exile .....and his books and other things were given to the Museum then. I spent some happy visits sorting all that out in 1992/3 and connecting with the family of Edmund Smith also a Freeman. People have been asking me questions, since,un known to me, Phyllis Kenny painted a portrait which I believe hangs now in the Gallery....! Sister Hazel Smith
